NEWS UPDATE – Superior Graphite Divests Its Desulco and X-Carb business to Unimetal

[Pace Petroleum Coke Quarterly] – Superior Graphite, a leading manufacturer of graphite, has reached an agreement with Unimetal to divest its recarburizer business. Unimetal will take over the Desulco trademark and the X-Carb brand. In the following months Unimetal and Superior Graphite will implement the transition of all commercial operations in North America, Europe, Middle East, Asia/Pacific, and South America.

According to a Superior Graphite press release, Desulco, a premium recarburizer, will continue to be produced with the same quality standards, and Unimetal will continue to use the Superior Graphite Heat Treatment process.

“These products will perfectly fit into our portfolio for metallurgical applications,” says Alan Yung, CEO of Unimetal. According to the press release, Unimetal intends to increase market coverage, reinforcing its commitment with an environmentally friendly, energy-efficient state of the art thermal production technology.

“I am proud of how we managed to build the Desulco business for over 45 years within the Superior Graphite family. I am confident Unimetal will take the business to the next level. At Superior Graphite, we will intensify our focus on the non-metallurgical markets going forward,” says Ed Carney, CEO of Superior Graphite.
