Long Beach council approves coal lease

The Long Beach City Council on Tuesday denied a request by a coalition of environmental groups to require that the Port of Long Beach conduct environmental analysis before extending leases with a pair of coal and petroleum coke exporters, which are a leading cause of climate change.
