5 things to know about today’s Northern Gateway oil pipeline decision

The federal government unveiled its long-awaited decision Tuesday on the Northern Gateway pipeline after the markets closed. If all conditions are met, the $7-billion, 1,172-kilometre pipeline will carry Alberta oilsands to Kitimat on the B.C. coast for shipment overseas.
